Japanese has three ways of studying and writing- Hiragana, katakana and kanji.Hiragana and katakana are two different ways to write the same set of 46 sounds. Hiragana are Japanese letters while katakana is used to write english letters in Japanese. Kanji are symbols that mean a whole word or idea. Kanjis are mostly used in writing. All billboards have kanjis in Japan but without learning hiragana, and katakana , kanjis can't be learnt.

Beginners should start with greetings and simple words. At the same time, beginners should learn how to write hiragana first, then katakana and kanji. Grammar should be studied side by side to learn how to frame sentences. All are interrelated. One can learn faster if one learns all sections simultaneously.

Listening, reading, speaking and writing all should be done to learn any language well.

You should practice daily until you memorise the words or grammar patterns or kanjis. After that you can practice them in reading and listening.

Japanese is a language where we have many forms of saying a single word like humble , honorific forms are present. So to memorize , u can just have a collection of card where each card can have a single japanese word with meaning and its kanji. Then u can play with a card for studying. This makes fun learning .
