IdentityI have had the privilege of working as a special education teacher for the past eight years. I hold a master's degree in Special Education, which has provided me with a solid foundation to support children with diverse learning needs. I initially worked at the Spoorthy Centre, a renowned institution that offers specialised education for children with disabilities. Motivated to make a more significant impact, I established my NGO, Asha Rehabilitation Centre. Over five years, I worked tirelessly to create a nurturing environment where children with special needs could thrive. Our centre offers a range of therapeutic services, including speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and behaviour management programs.
My journey in this field began when I became a parent to a special child. This experience ignited my passion to extend my knowledge and skills to help other children facing similar challenges. I provide home tuition services, visiting students in the comfort of their own homes. This allowed me to tailor my teaching methods to each child's requirements. One-on-one sessions became the cornerstone of my teaching approach, ensuring every child received the focused attention needed to succeed.
In addition to in-person sessions, I also ventured into online teaching. This platform has enabled me to reach a wider audience and cater to students facing physical limitations or living in remote areas. Through virtual sessions, I have successfully facilitated the development of speech and language skills, utilising interactive and play-based techniques to engage children and make learning enjoyable.
My teaching philosophy revolves around believing every child possesses unique strengths and capabilities. I strive to empower children with special needs to reach their full potential by identifying and building upon these strengths. Through my experience and passion for special education, I am committed to making a positive difference in the lives of these extraordinary children and their families.
