Overview

I have been teaching the English Language for the past five years across different curriculums, namely, IB, IGCSE, American Curriculum, Swiss Curriculum, ICSE, and CBSE.

Besides academic English, I have tutored adults in Spoken English and in prepared them for competitive exams like IELTS, TOEFL and SAT.

The ages of my students are as varied as the problems they face with the English language. My teaching methodology is different from the rest which is why I have a high success rate in delivering results. My students have the advantage of a customized lesson plan as per their individual language needs. It is imperative for me to always deliver quality lessons to make sure that my students become confident and efficient in English.

In the past, I have worked as a journalist, an assistant editor of a magazine, in advertising and in marketing. English Creative Writing is my forte and Iâ??m as proficient in English as a native speaker, if not better.

I do provide one demo class to put all my students at ease. Do get in touch if you wish to take one.

Hi Swetha,
While self-learning apps and websites for children are on the rise, they miss out on a fundamental point that children require good guided learning where they can clarify their doubts by the teacher in case they are unable to understand something. Online tutorial websites and self-learning apps rely on the fact that their tutorials will eventually clarify a particular concept for a child, which may or may not be the case. If the child is confused by a, to begin with, and needs help, there is no one better than an actual teacher sitting face to face with the child who can determine where the problem is. I would suggest personalised coaching for children till age 16.

The answer is simple, work on your confidence. You can do confidence building activities; go talk to a stranger, try starting a conversation with them on something mutual. For example, if you are waiting in line for something try to strike a conversation with the person in front of or behind you. Since both of you will be in the same situation, finding mutual grounds of agreement or even grievances won't be difficult. Be warned that not everyone will take kindly to your attempts at conversation but that's part of the learning experience. Second, based on your comments that you write English well, there shouldn't be any reason for other people to make fun of you. Have faith, speak without fear.

That's a fairly common complaint from discerning citizens such as yourself. In our country, the ability to talk in English is linked to intelligence and 'smartness.' Good communication skills exhibit one's ability to put their thoughts and ideas into words in an articulate manner but unfortunately, some people use simply being able to talk in English as an excuse to look down upon those who don't. According to the former, it's an indication of their socioeconomic standing in society, which is a debatable presumption. What we need to understand is that a person's ideas, beliefs and their conduct in society define who they are, not their ability to speak English.

Speak as much as you can, even if you think you are making mistakes. Practice phonetics (there are several free resources available online) and read aloud whenever you get the opportunity to. Often, we can hear our own mistakes in our voice when we mispronounce words. Be confident and diligent, and practice,... ...more
