Basic of Music
Hello! Welcome to the world of music. Music is something that helps one individual to learn and grow simultaneously. According to Science Music can benefit a person for his overall well-being, it also helps to memorize much easier than ever.
My name is George Monteiro. I've been playing and learning music from the past 17 years and with all the experience and studies I have attained a higher level of knowledge in music. This blog is all about music be it practice or comprehending basic concepts while playing.
The History of music is vast in a form which is also recognized as "Genre". Though the world is small it does not stop the music to evolve. Every different part of this country has its own Genre in Music. Blues & Jazz has long roots in American Music, Carnatic or Hindustani Classical in India, Progressive Rock or Heavy Metal from British and the list goes on.
Though there are 7 basic sounds in Music it did not stop people from creating their own style out of all these sounds either by adding or suspending notes from a Musical Scale from which every song is made.
The Language of Music
There is 4 language to recognize a pitch or notes in music and these are universal. There are two forms of Music 1) Indian Classical 2) Western Music. Indian Classical has a variety of scales which is also considered as "Raga" and an Artist has to perform these Raga the way they sound, however in Western Music an Artist has the freedom to arrange or compose in the way they want and this makes Indian Classical difficult to learn whereas Western Music can give you variety. For example, Western Music has many songs composed in C major. So let's look at these 4 languages of music.
