- by Ghanshyam on Dec 26, 2014Hi, My kid studied in Greenwood High International School
in Bangalore and I am quite impressed with the technique of imparting knowledge to the students. I can easily witness the educational growth in my child. My child is not only focusing on education but an overall development which is what a parent wants.
Greenwood high has ruined so many lives including mine. I have just freshly graduated from this school, so I can tell you all the problems with it. If you want proof that the school is bad, look at the graduating 10th grade batch of 2019: Out of 100 students, only 18 chose to stay back at greenwood. Aloysius D Mello does not seem to have time or the concern to look at the kids suffering from drug abuse within school premises. Many kids undergo depression as there is no teacher who can give good words of motivation. The school is just a poor mans TISB. Parents teacher's meetings are only to discuss grades. Class teachers do not make the slightest attempt on those kids who secure low grades or remain a little aloof in class. They are not encouraged to participate in a class or motivated to perform better. The high fee is no way justified for this school. It's no more a school but more of a factory where thousands of young kids entering the campus every day for some strange unknown reason. To be precise, this school tried to impose mandatory food fees on all parents even if the child does not eat at school. Even after repeated follow-ups and filing an application to BEO, the school is still not posting its next year fee structure on their website. In some grades, they do a whopping 30% fee hike without any consensus. There was even a silent protest outside the school, but instead of acknowledging their problem they called the police on us. They have a terrible college guidance counselor, they can't send documents to colleges on time, they even uploaded different documents which were not updated to the current grades after correcting them. One of my friends complained against a teacher this year, along with numerous classmates and parents, and instead of looking into the problem and the teacher, they suspended him and a few other people. One final fact before I end this is that any outstanding grades received by greenwood high students are purely due to the students' capabilities alone and their efforts. These efforts are usually supported by tuition teachers and not the school faculty who don't quite know the syllabus content themselves. Only a few teachers are actually good at their subjects but they often fail to set papers at the level at which they taught (they give extremely hard papers instead). Greenwood high just takes credit for anything a student accomplishes but fails to take responsibility when a student does poorly. Additionally, I would like to add that the teachers only care about the students they see as potential A*s or IB toppers. All other students who are doing poorly are neglected and left to work on their own. These guys only care about publicity and results, without considering the welfare and mental health of their students.
