Engineering mechnics (EM):

  1.In EM deals with bodies as perfecly rigid bodies and also known as Mechanics of  rigid bodies.

 2. EM is the study of external forces that are acting on rigid body.

 3. By the action action of external forces on rigid bodies leads to develoment of stress but no strain prodcued.

Mechanics of solids  (MOS):

  1. It deals with perfectely elastic bodies known as Mechanics of elastic bodies.

  2. It is the study of internal resisting resisting forces developed at a point under the action of externally applied forces(or loads)

  3. In this both stresses and strains developed
