Presentation is not necessary, but it prevents wasting spend too much time writing during the class, and you can make the presentations with animations and images that are more appealing to children. You can use zoom, google meet or other softwares. These usually come equipped with a whiteboard for interactive teaching.

I would recommend using google meet, skype, zoom some of which come with a virtual whiteboard that you can allow students to write on which will make your classes more interactive.
Alternatively, you can also use screen sharing on any video-conferencing app and use a note-taking app like OneNote or Evernote to use as a writing board that your students can see. In either case, it is advisable to have a tablet with a stylus. If you don't, you can buy graphic tablets or pen tablets made by Wacom which are used explicitly for doing everything you can with a pen and paper-like drawing, writing etc. The basic model is around 3-5k and is sufficient unless you plan to use it for making intricate paintings.
I also recommend getting familiar with these devices, apps and services you plan to use and explore a few options to see what you prefer before starting. If you use presentations that are prepared earlier, then you will save precious time needed to write down. At the same time, teaching and again some of these apps will allow you to write on your premade slides if students have questions or you may have omitted some crucial information while making them.
