Glad you asked this. Like a few years ago MBA took charge in the working sectors and became a mandatory requirement in many job fields, Digital Marketing now is pacing among the marketing industry (which applies to all industries).  
Digital Marketing is a corresponding field in all sectors. So you can pick and choose your areas of interests, to provide services and this transforms into a vast pool of opportunities with added value.
There are tons of jobs in the market currently and will be more in the future. Having learnt through the experience, this is the new age necessity for businesses. And hey, it's fun!
So, I'll suggest it's worth learning and keeping it as a supportive skill to any of your primary qualification (if you choose any other field in future).
