I completed my XII Board exams couple of years back . I had already made my mind to pursue B.Sc instead of engineering . I want to explore maths to it's core and am least interested in other fields.
Also I had realised that teaching is one field which is most suitable to me.
I began teaching in June 2014 , ie. two months prior to the exam . I was pretty thorough with a few chapters such as Derivatives , Continuity , Integration , Probability distribution , Binomial distribution , Logic , Matrices , Pair of straight lines , Trigonometry , LPP , but had kept others in option during board exams . I knew nothing about chapters such as 3-D , D.E , Application of derivatives and integration . Since I did not keep engineering as an option I did not prepare the JEE syllabus .
I remember the first set of chapters that I taught to a single student was 3-D . To be honest I did very bad even after preparing over night . I couldn't solve around 6 - 7 sums from 2 exercises . I realised that I need to be prepared with the board syllabus , each and every sum of the text book . Also I realised that I can convince others on a particular topic iff I am myself convinced on that topic . JEE syllabus was very far by at that stage . So I began practising the Board syllabus . Eventually I got accustomed to the sums . I used the digest to solve my doubts and also at times consulted with senior teachers. Today I feel very confident enough while taking a class . I have had a good experience of teaching over this over year . I personally feel that given any class , any student and any topic I can explain that topic to the student only I will have to do is know the topic myself. I mean to say that the teaching skills have developed in me and I feel confident enough while teaching. It won't be wrong to say that I have become addicted to teaching . Also that a mathematics lecture is the only place where I speak . In other places with family and friends I'm more like Mr. Manmohan Singh .
Well now in the 17 months that have passed since I began teaching I am completely done with the board syllabus (every sum) . In fact I have taught few chapters so many times that looking at the sum I can say which exercise and which sum number does it belong to . One such chapter is integration . I can bet anything on it , you give me a sum of integration from the text book I'll tell you which exercise and which number it belongs to.
Also I have done most of the JEE part (haven't taught yet) , also that I'm preparing self written notes of a few parts such as coordinate geometry , combinatorics , complex numbers .
