The fundamental element of cricket is skill. Bowling, batting, throwing and catching. Learning, practicing and mastering these basic skills is the foundation of coaching, performance, and training whether youre a 5 year old just learning the game, or an international player preparing for a tournament. However, just learning the skill is only the first step in the process. Only fools believe that Practice Makes Perfect if the goal is to win in competition.
Cricketers do not often fail because their skill level is poor: they fail because their ability to perform the skill in competition conditions is poor and thats a coaching issue.
