Born and raised in Bihar, has always been fascinated by the intricate dynamics of urban environments and the ways in which gender shapes societal structures.
Currently empaneled as a Guest Faculty in Dr B R Ambedkar University, Delhi, Rashmi
Kumari’s research area of interest in urban village, adolescent health, menstrual hygiene,
reproductive and sexual health, living style, accommodation unit, intra-family
communication, socio-economic status, and received Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship in
2014. In their academic journey, Rashmi Kumari has developed a keen interest in
understanding how gender influences urban spaces, exploring topics such as menstrual
taboos, housing, age of puberty, and early marriage and complications of early pregnancy and childbearing. Through coursework in gender studies, they have delved into the complex ways in which gender norms, identities, and power dynamics intersect with urban villages. This program allows them to explore the multifaceted nature of cities, analyzing their social, economic, and cultural dimensions through an intersectional lens.
