IdentityShahab Naqvi is a social entrepreneur. Despite his chosen career in service technology following a master’s degree in Computer Science Applications, Shahab’s strong belief in basic human rights and social justice eventually led him these past ten years to an extensive study of sustainable, socially-inclusive interventions for persons who are vulnerable, marginalised also including people with disabilities. In December 2017, he set up the Saahas Foundation Inclusive Resource Centre, a social enterprise based in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
Shahab’s professional work experience spans for about twenty years ranging from IT-enabled services to project - design, management and delivery; latter half for rights-based social developmental spaces. He has served organisations including HCL Technologies Ltd, Mphasis an EDS company and IL&FS Education & Technology Services during his employment. He has also executed independent consulting assignments with Lenovo India Pvt Ltd. and continues to design, develop and deliver consulting projects involving business writing, communication, research, training, monitoring and evaluation to various organizations working in the social space. His freelancing work also includes delivering training sessions on national banking and finance education with his most recent assignment with Ekgaon Technologies Pvt Ltd.
He believes is that promotion of a robust ICT infrastructure, strengthening rural e-Governance practices; when conceived from a systems’ integration point of view and a competitive form of ICT, it enjoys a broader public support and could be well integrated into a business strategy.
His work interests also involve media and communications, strategizing documentation and reporting structures as well as monitoring and evaluation (M&E).
Shahab has been in this role for about ten years which involves education and information about conceptual and product features and its analysis in the press, prepare and submit announcements to be published. These tasks also played critical role in facilitating social change and shaping public opinion as well as attitudes. The media, through its reporting, could put a spotlight on critical developments that impact people’s lives.
As a media person and with an aptitude to read and interpret both data and information in all fairness, accuracy and balance, Shahab believes that it fundamentally and in the long run, affects the way an organization functions.
