Centre of mass of a body is the point where we can assume its entire mass is concentrated.
To find Centre of mass of the given sysytem of four particles, first we identify the coordinates of their positions.
M1 = 1kg
M2 = 2kg
M3 = 3kg
M4= 4kg
Let 1kg mass be at the origin.
( X1, y1 ) = (0,0)
(X2, y2) = (1,0)
(X3, y3 ) = (1,1)
(X4,y4) = (0,1)
Now using the formula Xcm = (m1x1 + m2x2 + m3x3 + m4x4)/ (m1+m2+m3+m4)
We can find the centre of mass
Xcm = (0+2+3+0)/(1+2+3+4)
= (1/2)m
Ycm = (0+0+3+4)/(1+2+3+4)
= (7/10) m
