The system of coordinates is known as the Cartesian System of Coordinates.
It is so called because this system was first introduced by the philosopher Des Cartes.
There are other systems of coordinates in use, but the Cartesian system is by far the most important.
X-coordinate is called absicca
Y-coordinate is called ordinate
which can be represented as (x,y)
These are also called the rectangular coordinates
Rectangular to polar Conversion
r=√x2+y2
tanθ=y/x
Polar coordinates will be:(r,θ)
Polar to rectangular Conversion:
x=rcosθ
y=rsinθ
