1. Prepositions: A preposition is defined as a word which is placed before a noun or pronoun. Prepositions gives us a relationship between the things. We normally use prepositions in front of nouns or phrases to express a relationship beternity things, persons, event etc. 

2. Prepositions are of two types:

i. Simple prepositions: By, at, for, to, in, etc.

ii. Compound prepositions: Between, behind, within, without, inside, outside, etc.

iii. Other prepositions: About, above, across, against, among, along, at, by, for, beside, etc.

Examples:

1) It is about seven o' clock. 

2) He is about to be married.

3) The children are in the house.

4) The children just got in.

5) There was a fan hanging above his head.

6) My house is across the river. 

7) The light fell across the street.

8) I am against the proposal.

9) The road went along the rail track.

10) He walked along the river bank.

11) Distribute the sweets among the boys.

12) She is not at home now.

13) You can do it as leisure.

14) Come and sit by me.

15) He gets up by five everyday.

16) He has come from a small town. 

17) You start the work from today.

18) Put the box on the table.

19) He is in a bad mood.

20) She is a woman of strong will.
