Cell Theory!
Listen close to the story that I tell
It’s the rapping story of living cells
It’s a happy story that’s sort of cheery
About a real tough topic called cell theory
It all started with one bloke named Hooke
Who at some cork cells took a look
He used a microscope and he took his time
‘Cause a cell is smaller than a dime
Say 1, 2, 3, 4
Are you ready to learn some more
Plant and animal cells have many parts
And you must know each one off by heart
The nucleus controls the cell
It gives orders and it does it well
Inside of this is DNA
Ever wondered why you look this way?
Around the cell you’ll find another skin
The cell membrane holds the whole cell in
But its job isn’t simple there’s no doubt
It lets some particles in and out
Now please don’t lose your science enthusiasm
Listen to the story of the cytoplasm
A thick, gloopy fluid is what it looks like
But it’s the site of reactions needed for life
In plant cells you’ll find a tough cell wall
In animal cells there isn’t one at all
It provides support for the cell
Cellulose helps it to do it well
Now in the middle of the great plant cell
The vacuole can be found as well
They are filled with stuff like H2O
And they carry food so the cell can grow
You may ask how plants make food
It’s the job of the chloroplast dude
These green fellas get the job done
By absorbing energy from the sun
Now my friend you know it well
The unforgettable story of living cells
