Reading time: 4mins
Hello, students a probable gift for you,
Squaring of numbers is fun !!
If we can handle it in the right way, it will help you to save time. The trick what I will be sharing is biased only for numbers ending with 5.Like 5,15,25...
I believe many of us are comfortable squaring 5^2 = 25.
We will do a small experiment. Get your timer ready and check how much time you take to multiply 35^2. Whatever time you took note it down. ( I took 35 secs)
Now comes the trick : 35^2 = (3*4) 25 = 12 25 (I took 4 secs)
Understand it in steps :
a) whatever be the number(25,35,45...), write 25
b) from the example mentioned 352, multiply the ten's place number with its next(succeeding) number [3 with 4] answer is 12
c) whatever value(12) comes from the multiplication, write it on the left of 25 as it is. [i.e 1225]
Now try doing 75^2 (75 square)
d) follow the method discussed, and check how much time it takes — the amount of time you took less note it down. Let's say (earlier 35 secs, now 15 secs: you saved 20 secs). The no of instances you face such a scenario lets say n. You save n*0.3mins
Gift: The most wonderful gift one can give is time. The amount of time you saved is a gift from a teacher.
Those who are new to this method, I hope you liked the method. If you believe it is useful then like this post.
Thank you for your precious time
