The simple answer is it varies. There is no co-relation between the marks obtained in 10th board and your success in any competitive exams (be it IIT JEE). I can tell you I met lot of school rankers during my study at IIT but as well met many who were nowhere in their school rank holder list and still cracked JEE. So, don't get disheartened if you have not scored well in your 10th board you can and you will crack JEE exam if you set your mind to it.

There is no such rule for an iitian to achieve a specific percentage in 10th . My brother who is an iitian had got only 9.5 cgpa in 10th and I who is studying in Bhagalpur college of engineering had achieved 10 cgpa . So, there's no such rule for anyone and it's not necessary that if you don't do well in your boards then you're not able to do anything ahead. It's just that we should always try our best and the rest depends on God.

It is not bout marks . It is always bout how much effort u put in . If u give ur 100% u will get marks according to that and to be honest our life doesnt depend on marks . Our life is about how much work do u do with full determination. And talking bout IItians its not necessary to get 90+ to be a IItian in this u need ur full determination.
