The principal human challenge is that people are different - each one has a different motivation and an individual goal. Getting a group of people to achieve a common goal is difficult because of this individuality. Yet, an organization has to achieve certain common goals for it survive and be sustainable. To achieve this seemingly impossible task, people need to be attracted, motivated, compensated, recognized, developed etc. This is the purpose of HR in an organization. Work of any kind involves pressure. When dealing with machines the pressure is to ensure that they keep working without failure.
