Whenever there was a doubt that pestered me, Nirmala mam always made sure I got it cleared before moving on. Every doubt was acknowledged and assessed. if you take an analogy from a water pumping station in the city, the heart is like a pumping tower which pumps fresh water to the city residents via huge pipes which branch to smaller tubes and take to individual homes. From the heart, the arteries (like big pipes) carry the oxygenated and nutrient-rich blood, and as they reach closer to tissues, they become smaller and thinner (smaller pipes) and then to the muscles (homes). Once it arrives home, the owners can use it. Similarly, once the arteriole reaches the mass it branchers out to capillary bed, where the nutrients and oxygen diffuse out and in return CO2 and excretory waste enters into the capillaries, and these capillaries rejoin to form venules, and they create massive veins which will carry the blood back to the heart.

Saliva mainly helps in digestion of carbohydrates, mostly starch and converts to maltose In the presence of salivary amylase. Then saliva also moistens, softens and lubricates food and turns in to bolus with the help of mucus so that it is easily swallowed. It also contains an antibacterial enzyme lysozyme to kill harmful bacteria.

It happens in the mitochondrial matrix and during aerobic respiration where pyruvate undergoes series of steps like oxidative decarboxylation changes to acetyl CO enzyme A, which then enters Krebs cycle and converted to co2 and water. Finally, the Energy locked up in pyruvate would be released as ATP on mitochondrial cristae during electron transport.

It is an evolutionary advancement in birds and mammals compared to other groups, because the separation of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood will increase the efficiency of oxygen delivery where the arteries deliver only oxygenated blood to tissues and veins collect deoxygenated blood bring it back to heArt from where it is sent to lungs for oxygenation again.
