Teaching Experience in detail in Veena Classes

Veena classes are conducted to varied age groups, and the syllabus depends on the students interest and requirements. I conduct classes from the basics to advanced levels such as Ragam Thanam Pallavi. Many of my students are stage performers who have perfected their techniques by constant practice with focused teaching and learning of the gamakams and techniques. Through the online medium of Skype / Facetime, the students have the advantage of learning this divine instrument from their homes. The special aspect unique to these classes is that the music taught kindles the interest of even the youngest student, and aims at keeping them engrossed and imparting rich knowledge to them. Apart from this, the students are encouraged to ask questions and try out improvisations, and they are also trained to perform on stage. Another benefit is that the class timings are fixed even for overseas Indian students with a flexible approach, such that they can attend the classes either early morning or even late evenings, as many of them would be employed. We provide opportunities to them to give public performances and this not only boosts their self confidence but also motivates them to improve themselves constantly. I also give assignments to the students to try out the exercises in different Ragas, Thalams, etc and hand out practice schedues, homework exercises, etc to keep them in touch with the classes and to enable them to learn faster. The aim here is to reach even the overseas Indian students as well as students located in remote corners of India who are interested in music, to get an opportunity to learn the same. Most of all, music is an art, and in order to be a good artiste, one needs to enjoy the art. Hence, in these classes, music is never forced upon the student. Rather, they come to enjoy the music taught, and the students vouch that the classes are indeed a stress buster plus knowledge enhancer.
