This course which forms the base of civil engineering design will help the student to do the following:-
1) Understand the various types of stresses.
2) Analyze various types of determinate structures such beams, frames, trusses etc.
3) Draw Bending Moment, Shear Force and Axial force diagrams.
4) Understand and apply torsion and rotation of shaft.
5) Understand and apply various failure theories to structures under different loading conditions.
6) Mohrs circle for stresses and strains and their applications.
7) Strain Rosette and related problems.
8) Derivations such as derivation of Euler's equation.
9) Determinacy and indeterminacy of various types of structures with and without internal hinges.
11) Mechanical properties of steel including tensile testing of steel and related stress strain curve.
12) A and All other related topics required as per University/ college curriculum.
Besides proper guidance would be given for laboratory related problems
