Conceptual teaching is the Key! many of the competitive exams for PhD, Research and Academics do require entrance examinations which require in depth knowledge of the concepts involved in the particular subject. During my tenure as a tutor of Microbiology and Biotechnology, I came to the conclusion that making the students understand the concept is the key to success in such exams. It not only helps to achieve success in exams, but also make them ready to face interviews in Industries with great confidence. The major issue was making them understand that a conceptual diagram rather than a figure perfect to scale was important and to highlight what an examiner wants to see in written exams and at the same time be aware of the requirements in MCQs. I have tried to make my students understand trick questions in NET, SET and PET examinations and crack them with ease. Making use of learning techniques like memorics have been an integral part in my teaching throughout my career. My teaching not only involves clarification of the subject but also time management involved while appearing for Written or MCQ Examinations. Skills to stand out in your written examination is a part where I put much effort. Precise and up-to-the-mark writing is an important aspect in my teaching and the notes that I provide to my students. Above all, it is very important for any tutor to make the session interactive and at the same time filled with fun learning. I have always tried to achieve this in my teaching pattern. I have always believed something learned with interest will always click your subconscious mind and will be deeply engraved for life
