I would suggest starting preparing for CAT right away and make CAT as a priority and your current job as secondary. Secondly, join a good institute, and understand what your weak point is, and work on that. In parallel, appear some online mock tests conducted by reputed institutes. So, it is a three-way cycle, learn new things-appear mock test - rectify/fine-tune the mistakes.
