Second ,you buy basic book written by great social reformer Iswar chandra Vidyasagar to learn its script and basic. It is derived and quite influenced from Devnagari.

You may upgrade to enjoy short stories in Sunday special and periodical magazine , Believe me standard of creativity and ability to engage the reader is at best in Bengali. It has melodious original Sanskrit word and quite sweet Tadbhav words as good as Braja and Awadhi, Bhojpuri.
