Complicit: The particular word is used by Ivanka Trump for the fragrance she launched. Scarlett Johansson in a glittery gold dress launched it. The other developments like, Russian election influence, the ever-widening sexual harassment scandal, mass shootings and the opioid epidemic increased the use of the word "complicit”. Dictionary.com then chosen it the word of the year for 2017.
Lexicographer Jane Solomon told revels the meaning, "This year a conversation that keeps on surfacing is what exactly it means to be complicit," she further added, “Complicit has sprung up in conversations about those who speak out against powerful figures in institutions, and those who stay silent."
