Overview

I am Srinivasa Prasad. I am 62 years old. I have been an active journalist for 35 years. I would be my pleasure to train journalists at all levels.

MY CAREER SUMMARY

• I have worked for 35 years in Bangalore and Mumbai for some of India’s leading newspapers including The Times of India and Hindustan Times.

• Was a regular writer for Firstpost.com.

• I was part of the core team that re-launched the Bangalore edition of The Times of India in 1995, a successful effort that involved redefining news and finding new, engaging ways of writing it, while abandoning the old, staid journalism. Wrote True Lies, a weekly satire column for six years.

• At Hindustan Times, where I was the Bureau Chief (South) in the rank of an Associate Editor, my team contributed to the process of turning the boring, politics-obsessed paper into a modern daily with sharp writing. My last newspaper job, which I left in January 2010, was that of Senior Editor with DNA in Mumbai. My role in DNA was equivalent to that of a National Editor or a Commissioning Editor with the responsibility of generating story ideas and coordinating the paper’s correspondents in India and abroad.

• I wrote for Associated Press, the world’s leading news agency, an experience that significantly enhanced my learning.

• I taught the mechanics of writing and reporting at Manorama School of Communication, an English journalism school run by Malayala Manorama at Kottayam (Kerala), where the group has its corporate office.
