Linux administration is always challenging. This course starts with commands and ends with network services administration. There are 3 parts 1. Commands and Shell scripting 2. Linux Standalone administration 3. Network services admin. To start with Directory,File, process and user commands are run practically. Disk and memory usage , hw info commands are executed. Then the course moves to shell and redirections , symbols environment variables like PATH etc. Shell scripting ends with couple of simple scripts. History aliasing executing in current shell are shown with .bashrc and .bash_profiles.
Next standalone admin starts with installation issues , virtual box and guest os setup, package installation and purging . Cron job for scheduling jobs are demonstrated. sudo sudoers su are explained. File system mounting and partition creation is explained. Next focus shifts to network administration where it starts with ip addresses subnetworking Internals of IP and TCP are discussed to make sure the student can capture and understand packet using wireshark , Wireshark tool is explained in detail also tcpdump. network commands are executed for remote login, remote copy, interface info and pinging commands .An administrator has to know hiw to set firewalls. Accepting and rejecting ports level ip level and interface level is shown. DNS (Domain name system) server setup and client setup and DHCP server for host configuration is demonstrated.
