I am Kalpana Ramesh, a passionate and progressive English teacher with over 20 years of experience. My journey has been an enriching one with an attempt to provide experiences that imprint the learning. The experimental journey began in 1997 with my first appointment in Presidency School. This was my launchpad where an entire team of teachers did away with textbooks and restructured the syllabus into themes integrating English, Science, Social Studies and Math. The school introduced the Thematic Integrated Approach well ahead of its times. It resulted in the preparation of resource binders that served as guideposts and helped teachers plan and facilitate meaningful learning experiences in the classroom. I have worked as Consultant-English for Edurite and authored a series of English Textbooks for Primary Classes titled Ripples for Poorna Publications. Every milestone or change in my career graph has taught me a new aspect of language interaction and its impact on the comprehension of every other subject. My present work profile has given me the opportunity to study aspects of Pedagogy, the blend of Pedagogy and Content for better efficacy, the role of Foundational Literacy and the utility of libraries to enhance Reading and Reading Comprehension. I have been working as a Project Leader and Teacher Educator for two years, rolled out independent programs, developed content and trained and coached teachers in Bengaluru and other districts of Karnataka.
