This course is for students who have completed studying N5 Japanese.

We will follow the Minna No Nihongo N4 textbooks and workbooks. Each class will focus on reading Hiragana, Katakana & Kanji. Students will constantly be speaking and practicing their pronunciation. As a long time Japan afficianado and traveller, all cultural knowledge in each lesson will be explained as well.

There are 25 chapters in total and each chapter will take approximately 2 classes to complete. Each chapter contains grammar, vocabulary, sample conversation, extra useful words and information, practice exercises and a listening section. We will also hold revision classes every few chapters to even out the fast pace of class.

Kanji will be practiced in class and taught if necessary. I will also explain the history of Kanji, studying methodology and reading practice. There will also be frequent quizzes.

I expect participation in class from all students and regular completion of homework. As a teacher, I can explain the entire textbook to you and answer all your questions. As a student, I need you to study regularly, complete tasks that are given and communicate your problems to me.

I will also hold a bonus class at the end of N4 on studying methodology for N3.
