IdentityMy name is J Varsha Prakash, and I come from one of the most beautiful places in India, known as God's Own Country – Kerala, where food and folklore are a major part of our culture. I hold a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Business Administration, along with a diploma in Logistics Management. I believe I always seek opportunities beyond my comfort zone. While pursuing my MBA, I moved to Chennai for an internship at one of the major FMCG companies, Britannia Industries Pvt. Ltd. My journey into HR began at a mid-sized Marketing Process Outsourcing Company, where I served as an individual contributor, meeting the hiring needs of high-tech corporations across India, including Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Bosch, and others. As an adventurer, I was eager to see what the world had to offer. Like many Keralites, I considered Dubai my second home. With a visit visa and high hopes, I traveled to Dubai. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic had other plans, and I found myself quarantined, searching for a job. Ironically, I was looking for a Recruiter position to help others find their ideal jobs. After eight months of a challenging job search, I joined a Recruitment & Secondment firm as an HR Recruiter. There, I gained experience in International Recruitment, mainly hiring for the Oil & Gas industries, and built professional relationships globally.
Currently, I serve as the Lead, Human Resources at the University of the People, overseeing end-to-end recruitment and other HR project management activities. The University of the People, where I currently work for, is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing tuition-free education to underprivileged individuals, emphasizing the importance of basic educational rights. My time here has been transformative, as I have come to understand the significance of educating not only students but also the employees, who are the most crucial part of an organization. With over 4.5 years of experience in Human Resources, I have developed a profound understanding of Talent management and Employee development. I am now eager to transition into a role focused on Teaching/Training, where I can leverage my HR expertise to foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. Despite my success in HR, I am particularly drawn to Learning and Development because of my belief in the transformative power of education and professional development. In my current role, I have been responsible for a wide range of HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee onboarding, performance management, and employee relations. Through these experiences, I have developed a keen eye for identifying employee development needs and a passion for creating programs that enhance employee skills and engagement. I am currently pursuing an L&D Certification from HRCI and studying Instructional Design to deepen my understanding of adult learning theories and best practices in training design.
