Bilambita Banisudha

I am an accomplished academician and musician specializing in hindustani classical and semi-classical music. Currently serving as the associate professor and head of the department of music, I joined her university on may 8, 2023. With a ph.D. In hindustani vocal music from banaras hindu university under the esteemed guidance of padmashree prof. Ritwik sanyal, my academic journey also includes a master's degree from rabindra bharati university, kolkata, and a bachelor's degree with distinction from vishva-bharati shantiniketan. A prolific scholar, I have authored two books: multiculturalism in indian music: a compilation of essays (2023) and compositional forms of dhrupad: study of its song texts and performance (2021). Her research interests include exploring traditional and indigenous music forms, and she has contributed extensively to ugc-care-listed journals on topics such as the sacred songs of odisha, the ballad traditions of pala, and the compositional richness of monsoon melodies. I am also an all india radio-graded artist in both classical and semi-classical music. My recent accolades include delivering a lecture at an international conference on india's composite culture organized by banaras hindu university and securing university research funding for her project on monsoon raga-s in hindustani music. My work demonstrates a deep commitment to preserving and promoting india’s musical heritage while exploring its intersections with contemporary cultural and educational paradigms.
