Well, Vikas, Preparing for MBA is never that difficult for working personal as long as you have a strategy to manage your time. You can start it now (Post-reading my views), for example, going through the newspaper(English) regularly will help you in improving the Vocabulary part. Similarly, you can play some puzzles to develop computing skills. Nevertheless, you have to accommodate the fundamentals first to master problems. Once you are accustomed to the basis, you can go ahead for any CAT Materials. Do understand the syllabus and content weightage before jumping into a detailed study. My strong opinion will be to focus more on practice.
Coming to the second part of your question regarding college selection, I will suggest you appear for other institutes like TISS, IIFT, XAT & IIRM where the level of difficulty is low in comparison to CAT, but the placements are equally good.
