If you are willing to ignore the compatibilty issues between the programs, AutoCAD is easier to use for 2D drawings. Sketchup is easier to use for 3D modeling. AutoCAD however is better for precision than Sketchup.
Sketchup is very fast and easy for conceptual modeling, but it falls short when it comes to fine engineering. Also Sketchup’s models do not consist of perfectly curvy, round or spherical surfaces. Any round or otherwise bent surface is converted to a mesh of small flat triangular faces. I have tried at great length to overcome this compatibility issue, but without satisfactory results.
In the end, the choice between AutoCAD and Sketchup depends more on what you want use it for than which one is easier.
