The guitar is one of the most popular musical instruments all over the world. The instrument usually is built with six strings made either of steel or nylon. Initially, Guitar strings used to be made from animal intestines. Guitars with 4 and 12 strings are also popular. However, Guitars with 7, 8, 9 and 10 strings are considered rare. Guitar belongs to the chordophone family, traditionally constructed from wood and strung with either nylon, gut or steel strings. The instrument is usually differentiated from other chordophones by its construction and tuning.
Types of Guitars
There are three main types of Guitars - Classical Guitar with nylon-strings, Acoustic guitars with steel-strings and Electric guitars with magnetic-pickup.- Classical Guitar - Classical Guitar is also known as nylon-string guitar or Spanish guitar. It is made of wood with strings made from gut or nylon and has 12 frets.
- Acoustic Guitars - Acoustic Guitar is a guitar that produces sound from its string when strummed or plucked with a pick or with the finger. Unlike the electric guitar, acoustic guitar transmits the vibration of the strings to the air instead of relying on electronic amplification.
- Electric Guitars - It is a kind of guitar that uses one or more pickups to convert the vibrations into electrical signals. When a player strums, picks, taps, and finger picks the strings, electric guitars produce vibrations.

Beginners can start with a guitar with nylon strings because it is easier to play without straining the fingers too much. Some players prefer electric guitars as it is lighter as compared to acoustic guitars which require firmer fingering and picking. - Blues Guitar - Blues is an exclusive Guitar playing style in American music. Blues have inspired Jazz, country, rock styles.
- Jazz Guitar - Jazz Guitar style includes blowing and comping with Jazz chords. The Jazz style was introduced due to the usage of amplification techniques to boost the sound of acoustic guitars.
- Classical & Fingerstyle Guitar - The Classical Guitar style uses fingerstyle techniques with nylon strings. A guitarist uses the finger instead of a pick for strumming the strings.
- R&B and Funk Guitar - R&B and Funk guitar is a style about muting techniques and using them with rhythm and style. It is easier and a lot of fun to play.
