Manintaing law and order in a country as big as India has always been a challenge for the government from ancient time. The Mauryans created havey bureaucracy which helped them to rule over Indian subcontitent. Similary Mughals also created adminstrative system based on Mansabdari and Jagirdari.

In modern time the british have developed a bureaucratic system, which became the iron structure of adminstraion in India. After indepence, we contniued with the same system and altered as the need of the time. 

Now, for aspiring new India, UPSC conducts civil services examination every year in the country to recruit officers like IAS, IPS, IFS..and all India services. The exam is conducted in three phase namely Preliminary test, Main Exam and personality test, which is spread over almost an year.
