While schools provide formal education to the children, the home is where they start learning about things informally. Parents think that schools will take the initiative to educate their children. Well, this is partially true, as parents also play an essential role in bringing up their child. For the development of particular behaviour and skills, a child relies a lot on their parents. So the curriculum of school education in India stresses both the formal and informal education of children equally.
As education begins at home, parents need to be proactive and guide the students to follow a few healthy habits to live a better life.
Drink Lots of Water-
Most of the children forget to drink the right amount of water they require. In schools, the teachers try to remind the children to drink water from time to time. Students mostly spend their time in homes. So parents should be very concerned and make sure their child is taking water properly. Initially, it might be a challenging task, but once their body gets habituated, the students automatically understand when and how much to drink water.
Getting 8-10 Hours of Sleep-
The brain of students stays active all the time. This happens not just during the time of lesson learning but every time. Children at such a young age remain active both physically and mentally. Nursery students seem to be a lot more physically active than the students of other classes are. It is why sleeping is an integral part of every student’s life. To stay active and function properly, every student needs to sleep 8-10 hours every day. This way, their brain cells get rejuvenated, which helps them wake up fresh and be active throughout the day.
Eating Healthy and Balanced Food-
Maintaining a diet from a young age helps a lot. Most of the children love to have junk and fast food. This can cause harm if they make it a habit of eating such food. It is why most doctors and nutritionists suggest starting a healthy diet for children as soon as possible. The earlier the parents help the students begin such a diet, the easier it is to get accustomed to it. In schools, thus the authority starts with the kindergarten students. They teach the students to start with a healthy breakfast, which will include proper protein and fruits. Then in the lunch, the diet should include green and fresh veggies, some lentils and protein. Carbohydrate is also essential, but a small amount of it is enough. During snack time, including seasonal fruits are a good choice. Nuts with milk are appropriate for late afternoon. Dinner should be simple and fuss-free. Roti or a small portion of rice, vegetable curry, and a little bit of any protein are enough for the whole day.
Completing Homework on Time-
Many students make it a habit of keeping their homework loading up and then, during the submission time, complete it in a hurry. This affects the students hugely. It affects the daily education routine. The children may find it difficult to adjust to the education system in the long run. To save the students in such a situation, parents can enrol them under private tuition classes. Here a teacher would monitor the students, and they would get proper educational guidance.
Including Physical Activities-
Physical activity is an integral part of every student’s life. As it is rightly said, the brain works better when the body is fit. So every student should invest at least one hour every day in sports. The activity needs to be effective and help them to stay in good shape. Sports like football, hockey, and basketball are some of the sports they can try out. However, the students must choose a sport that they can enjoy.
Studying Every Day-
Maintaining a proper routine helps a lot. Students who follow a routine are much more successful in their life. While preparing a routine, they must make sure to allot particular time to study the subjects rightly. The time for learning the subjects, however, would vary according to the requirement of the students. Whatever that may be, they must surely invest particular time for studying. Once they get accustomed to the routine, it does not take much time to become a habit.
Thus these are some of the critical healthy habits every school child needs to follow. Living a healthy life is necessary nowadays, and these points would help them to achieve that.
