What is Robotics?
A robot is a mechanical device, that can be programmed to follow a set of instructions. We use lots of machines in our day to day lives. All these are nothing but robots. It is essential for everybody to understand mechanisms and functioning of these machines.
Why should kids learn robotics?
Robotics is a field where students can apply the theory they have learned in schools to practically build and implement machines/mechanisms. Its a perfect blend of theoretical knowledge and application of that knowledge in day to day lives.
Through Robotics one can learn Science, Mathematics, Engineering and Technology concepts. Robotics offers an opportunity to integrate technology into a curriculum in a way that students find it interesting.
It enhances Critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Student develops team working spirit.
In Robotics, students learn to program Robots and give them a set of accurate instructions to follow. This develops programming skills in the student which kids otherwise finds complicated and boring. Through Robotics they develop better programming skills. Students get to handles processor, sensors, motors, gears etc. All simple and complex mechanisms can be understood directly by implementing and having hands-on experience of same.
In robotics, as students can build, program and run a Robot develop by them; they find it fun and interesting. It builds positive competitiveness among kids as they participate in a range of national and international level Robotics competitions.
This technology knowledge that they get by self-experimenting is a lifetime asset for them.
