- NEET - National Eligibility and Entrance Test is a national level entrance exam for medical. Students who want to get admission in various government and private colleges for the graduate medical course (MBBS) and dental course (BDS) must crack the NEET exam. It is a single medical entrance test for admission to 66000+ MBBS and BDS medical seats in India. In 2013, NEET-UG replaced AIPMT (All India Pre Medical Test) and all MBBS exams conducted by different Indian states. NEET exam syllabus is announced by Medical Council of India (MCI). NEET Undergraduate is conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education). There is negative marking for every wrong answer, and each correct answer is awarded 4 marks.
- AIIMS - All India Institute of Medical Sciences is conducted to help students get admission to MBBS programme in AIIMS Institutes. A national level medical entrance exam, the test gauges a candidate's knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, General Knowledge and Aptitude & Logical Thinking.
Few of the popular medical courses offered in India are - Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Bachelor of Pharmacy, B.Sc Nursing, B.P.T (Physiotherapy), B.O.T (Occupational Therapy) and more.
A brief about few popular medical courses in India:
- M.B.B.S - This course is of 5.5 years duration. M.B.B.S stands for Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and these two degrees are awarded simultaneously.
- B.D.S - It is a 4-year course in dentistry. This professional degree is awarded when a student completes a study of 4 years of study in the dental field.
- M.D. - Doctors who have completed their M.B.B.S degree are eligible to study the Doctor of Medicine (M.D) course. The course is of 3 years duration.
- B.Pharma - Bachelor of Pharmacy is a mandatory medical course to get medical shop license in India. The course is of 4 years duration, and students must apply after their 12th Standard with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
