In addition to the socioeconomic and cultural aspects, jhumming cultivation is done in Northeastern states because the people of these areas are mostly tribals and have not an abundance of various fertilizers. So, they use primitive means of shifting cultivation due to which, by burning plantation, they get rid of weeds, pests and insects without any use of expensive pesticides and fertilizers.
However, this type of cultivation reduces soil fertility and induces soil erosion.

Let us take an example to understand :
Suppose we have to find the square of 27
Step 1: add unit digit to the given no, so here, 27+7 = 34
Step 2: calculate square of unit digit of given number, here 7*7 =49
Step 3: answer in step 1 * digit of given no before unit digit, here 34*2 =68
Step 4: add answers in step 3 and step 4, but by shifting step 2 ans by one digit to the right
Like 68+
49
=729 = 27*27
