Both dance styles are beautiful.... But i think so kathak is easy to start learning in any age as there is no difficult poze to start with... you just need to stand in V shape leg movements and start doing basic footwork patterns learned by your Guru/ teacher. In bharatnatyam, first you have to learn half sitting position which is not easy for everybody. In early age students till 15 years... when your body is much flexible you can start basic bharatnatyam dance.. I am kathak dancer but learned bharatnatyam too...so i can say this.
