According to historians, Telugu originated from the Proto-Dravidian language. This proto-Dravidian language is said to be spoken during the third millennium. In Bhattiprolu during the 400 BCE and 100 BCE, the first Prakrit inscriptions were found with a few Telugu words.
It is believed that the first word in the Telugu language was ‘Nagabu’, and it was found in the Sanskrit inscription. Apart from that, in the Dharamshila inscription of Emperor Ashoka, Telugu words were also found. Even in Satavahanas, Ikshvakus and Vishnukundians, many Telugu words were found.
Types of Telugu Language:
In terms of dialects, there are four regional dialects of Telugu. Someone willing to learn Telugu should have a fair idea about the different types of Telugu dialects. This would help in understanding the differences as the dialects differ according to the regions. The dialects actually represent the geographical, cultural and social impact of those places.
