PATTERN - Noun 1 wa Noun 2 Desu. (Noun1 は Noun 2 です。)
The particle Wa (は) indicates that the words before it is the topic of the sentence. You select a noun you want to talk about, add Wa (は) to show that it is the topic and give a statement about the topic.
Example :-
- Watashi wa Maiku Miraa desu. わたしは マイク・ミラーです。 I am Mike Miller
- Watashi wa Enjinia desu. わたしは エンジニアです。 I am an Engineer.
- Anata wa Gakusei desu. あなた は がくせい です。 You are a Student.
- Watashi-Tachi wa Indo-Jin desu. わたしたち は インドじん です。 We are Indians.
Nouns used with Desu(です) work as predicates.
- Desu(です) indicates judgment or assertion.
- Desu(です) also conveys that the speaker is being polite towards the listener.
