Hi Poonam,
Dollar sign or even Rupee sign or any currency is used when we have data with Money involved.
Like for cost value , sale value.
With help of currency we can make it global.
For example you received a data where cost is written only 120, now you cannot evaluate whether it is 120$ or 120Rupee. So that is the reason , to make it more specific we use Currency sign.
