Hello,
I find it unusual when anybody asks me to teach them a certain melody or song. Although it's beneficial for a guitarist, it only gives a small set of options. These new methods of learning only provide a glimpse of the vast ocean of opportunities in the field of music.
I am here to rectify one small common flaw that most beginners face/do unknowingly.
As an aspiring guitarist, you understand your instrument, bottom to top, every aspect of a guitar should be registered inside your head. That can be achieved only by practising with sincere effort.
Don't aim to play one certain song or set a certain melody as a benchmark, instead try to understand why we play certain chords and why we don't. Try more and more to understand about the octaves and how they function with each other.
No doubt, this approach is going to be more time consuming and more of a headache compared to the present method, but once you understand, the result is fruitful and quite rewarding.
Always remember to be fresh and original. If you like what your playing, then it's probably good and never doubt that.
And one more important thing, every guitarist should know how to sing and play at the same time, and trust me it is not as easy as it seems, but it is not as difficult also.
Be sincere and you will enjoy every moment with your beautiful guitar.
