Some important points on the CAT and GMAT debate, which can help you decide what should you prefer:

1. The number of test takers for CAT is almost three times as much as the number of test takers for GMAT, thus it means less competition and less pressure.

2. You can take CAT only once, in a given academic year. But as far as GMAT is concerned, there is a lifetime cap of Eight times that you can take the test and can be taken 5 times in a given academic year once every 16 calendar days.

3. You can now choose the order in which you want to take up the various sections on GMAT. This definitely helps you, to formulate the strategy based on your strengths and weaknesses. But this section selection is not on CAT.

4. Your CAT scores are valid only for a year, But GMAT scores are valid for five years.

5. CAT scores can be used only for admissions in the IIM’s and other affiliates Indian B-Schools but GMAT scores are valid to the best institutions, both abroad and in India.
