GMAT preparation tips

If you dream to study in a top business school, a great GMAT score would make your candidature stronger. Preparing for GMAT needs proper planning, strategies and dedication, here are few tips listed for you: 1. Create a study schedule It is needless to say that you need a proper study timetable to get your desired GMAT exam scores. And it is important to stick to your timetable under any circumstances. The more your are focused on covering papers and topics under scheduled time, you would be in a better position to face the exam. 2. Make notes While you study on a regular basis, you will come across many important points which you might need later. Keeping a note is a good practice as it will help you to remember many unknown facts and find answers for new questions. Making short and brief notes help in quickly revisiting important points just before the exam, without losing much time. 3. Practice sample/previous question papers GMAT practice test papers and previous years' question papers are available online. You can use these papers to check your level of preparation for the exam. After an interval for about two weeks you can retake those tests and check how far you have progressed than your last time. This way you can understand where you need to work harder. Taking GMAT coaching classes GMAT coaching classes are important but not mandatory while preparing for the exam. It is absolutely possible to take the exam without any GMAT coaching classes. However, taking GMAT coaching classes does help you to get ready for the exam with a strategic plan and more focused approaches which will help you to face the exam with confidence. 5. Understand different types of questions While you are in the preparation process, it is necessary that you understand the types of questions that are asked under different GMAT sections. The more you get a hang of what kind of questions are asked the more you would be prepared for the exam. You can ask your friends and family who have taken up the test already, to understand the question patterns better. 6. Eye for a higher GMAT score Not every GMAT aspirant needs a high 700+ score but it is always better to set a higher goal so that you don't struggle to reach your required score. Most of the test takers score 50 marks above or below their expected scores in exam (it is quite common). So set a little higher GMAT score to be on the safer side. 7. Rely on GMAT official guide books Well, the Internet is full with a number of GMAT books. Yet, you should buy those GMAT official guide books because they contain real GMAT problems. Thus, you can plan your preparation on the right lines right from the beginning. Make your GMAT preparation by following the above tips and in case you are looking for expert help, post your coaching requirements here.
