1. What is a Subject?
Ans: Anything we talk about is the subject. We usually talk about a person or thing. That becomes the subject of our talk.
How do we address them? With a name. That is the Noun.
We are talking about Pratap. Pratap is a name. Noun. (Proper Noun)
2. What is a Noun ?
Ans: Anything that can be named is a noun. Two types of nouns:
- Common Noun: A general name: Animals, plants, objects (non specific)
- Proper Noun: Has a unique name to itself: Names of people, places, etc
i. Now let us use this in a sentence.
Example: Pratap is a man.
Nouns: Pratap, Man
Proper noun: Pratap
Common Noun: Man
ii. Now Pratap is the subject of this sentence.
Replace a noun with a Pronoun.
Pratap is a man
He is a man
He - is the pronoun
iii. Nouns which are subject, are replaced with a subject pronoun.
I, you, he, she, it, we, they
iv. Applying this to French:
