Sudip

Sudip is a Kathak performer for last twenty years. He has received training under Gurus Shri Pranab Sanyal
and Shri Sandip Mallick Ji, in Kolkata. In his pursuit of learning the nuances of the dance more deeply
he made his journey to Delhi and has been under the guidance of renowned Guru Pandit Jai Kishan
Maharaj Ji. He has taken training in Pakhawaj under Pt. Ravi Shankar Upadhayye Ji. As a child he was
fascinated by the tales of legendary artists that were told to him by his teachers and parents. As he
got acquainted with kathak, the wish to carry forward the art form with its grace, divinity and legacy has
been the purpose of his life.
Sudip has blazed an encouraging trial while bestowing this dance-form with dignity and enriching it with a
deeper canvas of expression. He has attended regular workshops of Stalwarts and added up to his
learning. Being a part of workshops of Pt. Birju Mahraj and Vidushi Saswati Sen, late Pt. Om
Prakash Maharaj, Roshan Datye, Aditi Mangaldas and a many more.
In academics, he is a Bachelors from Calcutta University. His deep interest in Literature, and his strong
command over his learning, Sudip has successfully blended literature with dance.
Sudip, has come up with concept choreographies and executed them at various events in Kolkata
and Delhi and the other different parts of India, as well in Abroad. He has got the Prestigious
DOVERLANE AWARD in 2016.
He has been working actively in the field of classical dance in Kolkata, India. Another important part of
Sudip’s dance career is being involved in a historical project of Indian classical dance and music.
Something what has never happened before in India, GEETHOPADESHAM an amalgamation of KATHAK and
KATHAKALI. Where Kalamandalam Goutam and Sudip has done not only a Jugalbandi in
kathakali and kathak but also the music itself is an Amalgamation of North Indian and Carnatic vocal.
Sudip has been travelling all over India and the other countries of the globe including UK, Netherlands,
Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, Paris, France & Prague while enthralling the audience thoroughly.
To mention his achievement as a Teacher, Choreographer, and a Creative Personality Sudip has been
working with DUNAMIS, a Dance company Based in Kyoto, Japan, as one of their lead faculty and he also
worked in the company as, Administrative Officer Pan India, for all their Activities in India from July 2018 to
June 2020.
