After completing the pre-regional mathematics Olympiad, the RMO or Regional Math Olympiad is the second one, which the students need to take part in. This Olympiad is held in December, mainly on the first of Sunday.
This exam is organised in nineteen regions of India. Thirty students from each region participate in the next level, known as INMO or Indian National Maths Olympiad. This one is mostly held during the month of February. In the INMO, nearly six hundred students participate, and among them, thirty-five are selected for a one-month summer training camp in Mumbai. Math Olympiad is one of the most prestigious competitions and thus, many students like to participate in this one. After the training camp overs, teams are made with six students. Then they are sent to take part in one of the most prestigious contests of mathematics subjects. Qualified students get a direct invitation from C.M.I (Chennai Mathematics Institute) and ISI, which is also known as Indian Statistical Institute. Completing courses like B.SC, B.Math, B.Stat from these prestigious institutes opens excellent job opportunities and holds the students passing in high esteem.
Now considering the importance of such competition, the preparation also requires to be up to the mark. For this, the students have to start their training from class 11. To get the best guidance, joining class 11 tuition would be the best idea. However, there are many other ways to carry on the preparation procedure. Let’s check a few of those:
Covering the Maths Olympiad Books-
To understand the syllabus and complete the preparation on time, it is important to start the training from class 11. Along with joining class 11 tuition, it is necessary to know and have a clear idea of the Olympiad books. Anyone can get the details of the syllabus after searching the internet. Once the students have a fair idea about it, they should look out for the right Math Olympiad books. If the students are in doubt, they must ask for help from their teachers. This way, they will have a better and clear understanding of the right type of books that are suitable for cracking the maths Olympiad.
Focusing on the Basics-
Students appearing for such prestigious competitions require focusing on the basics of the syllabus. They should have a proper idea of the formula, technique, questions that may come in the exam and most importantly, the theorem included in the syllabus. The deep study of mathematics will automatically help the students to solve math problems quickly.
Right Timetable-
To start preparation for the maths Olympiad in class 11, students must follow a proper timetable. Maintaining the right timing is important. Students need to invest their precious time in completing the syllabus of class 11 besides preparing for the Olympiad. They should be clear about balancing their study time between these two. To have a better understanding of how to prepare the timetable, they can certainly ask for some professional guidance.
Revision-
Any student who wants to score high in the maths Olympiad should never overlook this step. Revision is the key to success. It is this part, which helps to retain whatever the students have learnt throughout the process. For better results, students must go through everything on alternate days. This way, they will remember all they have studied.
So these are the few steps that students can follow to score high in the Olympiad. Starting to follow these from class 11 will give them ample opportunity to prepare for future competition.
